Demolition Derby Rules
1.   The Vehicle
Any 2 wheel drive car, station wagon. No utes or panel vans. If in doubt, ask the Organizer.
(B) The vehicle must be fitted with a minimum of lap and diagonal safety belts for driver and passenger.
(C) Vehicle must be of manufacturers standard specifications except in rules (F) to (J)
(D) All glass to be removed from vehicle.
No reinforcing allowed in any part of the vehicle apart from that specified in rules (F) to (J). Tow bar tongues to be removed. No water in tyres.
Optional but strongly recommended. Drivers (and passengers) doors may be filled with
concrete. This is a safety measure well worth doing. A reinforcing bar MUST BE placed
behind the drivers and passengers seat.
Optional. Battery may be removed and placed in steel or steel framed wooden box complete with firmly affixed lid and bolted securely to floor.
(H) Optional. Petrol tank may be substituted for another tank made of 1/8-inch steel, with welded seams and threaded lid. It must be securely mounted in the boot with breather
    running through the floor.
(I) Optional Radiator fan may be removed. Spark plug and coil leads may be firmly affixed
(i.e. solder or glue).   A hand throttle may be fitted.
J) Doors bonnet and boot must be securely fastened with chain or wire.
Driver (and passenger) doors must be painted a contrasting colour to the car, as a clearly visible reminder to other drivers, and so a white number (painted on the door at the track) will be clearly visible
2. The Driver
All drivers must produce a current drivers Restricted or Full licence. If you have lost your licence please apply to the Organizer. The Club may allow you to drive anyway.
(B) All drivers and passengers to have an approved crash helmet, boots or shoes, and cotton overalls.
NOTE:   for your own safety do not wear nylon or synthetics in case of fire, and neck braces are recommended.
(C) ENTRY FEE is $20 and must be paid before scrutineering.

3. Scrutineering.
The Club will appoint three Referees. The agreement of any two of these will be
Considered ”The Opinion of the Referee.” They may appoint assistants for timing cars stopped etc.
All vehicles are to be on the track by 1 a.m. They will be scrutineered prior to the start of the normal racing programme starting at 1 p.m.. In addition, must not be touched after scrutineering until the start of the Derby without specific permission from the Scrutineer.
Maximum petrol allowed is three gallons. Tanks are to be empty for scrutineering and are to be filled up under the supervision of the scrutineer.
Bonnets and boots are not to be secured until after scrutineering.
(D) All vehicles will be numbered at scrutineering.

4.   Rules while Racing

Any driver who breaks these rules will be black flagged and disqualified.
Drivers who are black-flagged must stop immediately. Failure to do so will result in
banning from future Debris.
(A)   Crash helmet, overalls, and seat belts must be worn at all times.
(B) Any vehicle stationary for more than one minute* will be deemed to be out of the Derby and must not re-enter the Derby.
*   (The Referee will confirm the length of time allowed   before the Derby starts).
Deliberate ramming of drivers or passengers doors will result in disqualification.
Drivers must make every effort to avoid accidental contact with drivers or doors,
and may be disqualified by the referee if it is decided that insufficient care is being taken. The referee’s decision at the time will be final and there will be no protests
allowed.
(D) Continually avoiding collisions or running away will result in disqualification at the
discretion of the referee.
If damage to the rear of the vehicle prevents visibility out the back, you must use
another part of the vehicle to ram with even if this means using the front.
This is to avoid hitting driver’s doors and stationary vehicles.
(F) Do not remove seat belts or leave vehicle while Derby is in progress.
(G )One passenger per vehicle is permitted at an additional charge of $10.
(H) The Referees decision is final and no protests will be allowed after the Derby.
(I) All vehicles are to be removed from the track on the same day after the Derby has
finished.
This is the driver’s responsibility, and they will be liable for any
removal costs incurred.
